umm... In Europe, atleast where I live Sweden is pretty much the other way around. Gore and violence is nothing compare to a pair of tits bouncing up and down. People will go Ricky Lake on you ass if you show anything naked on tv. But the funny thing is... That if you don\'t show naked bodies, they are alowed to make vids and shit how sexy and erotic they want. I mean, come on a lil 12 year old dude will get the signals of sex even if they girls have the clothes on, or if you don\'t show to much. But when it comes to violence... No one seems to really give a damn. When me and my friend were 16, we bought Silent Hill 2 that was rated 18. We didn\'t care of course, but they shouldn\'t have let us buy it. Morals and shit is going down the drain, just waiting to be flushed away =P

RE: Jack Thompson
haha I read the link Reno posted... tbh I like the guy.
And it only shows that america sucks and are intollerant. Land of the free? And they cut out - “…Doug Lowenstein, the Joseph Goebbels of the industry.” -This is a section of that same interview that CBS cut out when the interview was published. Joseph Goebbels was a Nazi. Doug Lowenstein is one of the most prominent members of the ESRB.\"

Only because he compared a \"very prominent\" member of the ESRB to a Nazi. I know how Goebbels was, and I know exactly what Jack means with that. I agree a lot with what Jack are against.

I think it\'s good he\'s fighting for something he belives in. I might not agree with all the arguments he has, of course not. And I do enjoy some violent games, such as Silent Hill and fps shooters. But still I think young children shouldn\'t be expose to such things until they matured enough. The pg rating is there for a reason, the same way the movies has the\'re rating. And this is where the people at the shop, local video store , and parents should take their responsibility.

You don\'t think erotic and sex is suitable for younger childrens, and so is it for violence to.

The entire point of what Jack Thompson is doing is good, but he\'s just an ignorant twat, that, even if you e-mailed him with praise, and *called* yourself a gamer, he will dismiss you with an insult and any further attempts to crack his bubble will be met of \"Try that again and I\'ll have a lawsuit so far up your ass, only the electrical power tower up mine is further up\"

He is rather amusing. Next he\'ll go Greenpeace and start saying Pokemon games are training children to hunt and cage animals to sell in the black market, or some crazy shit like that.

Sweden, the home of ?swedish erotica?, one of the first countries in Europe to lift the ban on pornography, where norweigans pilgrimage to get their porn and cheap booze. Are we talking about the same country?

Or is it, that from my adult viewpoint, the reality of things seems totally different to yours?

RE: Jack Thompson
Ah Swedish busty women eating knackebr?d on small boats being very very horny *dreams away*

Politically correctness has made everything go away. I remember Fa ads with busty women and fights on live TV shows. Now the Fa babes cover their tits instead of making them jump from left to right while exiting the wet, wet, oh so wet sea and talkshows are void of ANY discussion whatsoever. Sure we Euro\'s still know what dangles down there so the occassional videoclip with masturbating women in trainstations is never far but still... it\'s different.
As for violence... I grew up in the 80ties, everything after the 90ties is like comparing Tex Avery with the Flintstones. I sympathised with the bad guys and made them win, I come from a time when the bad guy still was intelligent... now they\'re all dumb and wacky. Violence on TV has never been a hot topic here though, I don\'t watch the news (cause quite frankly Flemish TV sucks dick and the newscasts are overly dramatised, especially on the \"quality\" TVchannel called VTM) but when I do I do see blood and guts for at least 4 minutes. Afterwards I can watch a liposuction being performed on a fat cow singing La Vida Loca in nice grey colors and see women birthing their ass off (literally and figuratively) for 300€.

So conclusion: more swedish busty Fa women defying Newton\'s laws of gravity while running out of the sea please, and more hardcore discussion where people actually HAVE an opinion instead of having some \"media-advisor\" whispering pre-chewed crap in their ear. Cause let\'s face it, a thinking man is less able or willing to slaughter another then some dumb fuck who doesn\'t know better... and lush, swedish, round breasts have a calming effect as well. *ahum*

Wink

RE: Jack Thompson
Har har, yer speaking with both heads there, Del. But to refine my point: Allthough the portrayal of women (especially) in TV and advertising is generally less gratious and sexually provocative than before, this is a gender/equality issue, and has nothing to do with the (almost all-american) hypocrisy of being outraged and terrified of anything graphicly sexual, while violence is a-ok.

Picture the Janet Jackson/Justin Timerlake SuperBowl scandal (a tit was very briefly shown). Heads rolled after that, advertisers trembled with fear. TV-companies were heavily fined. New legislation was introduced. Would it have made anything but the entertainment headlines if it happened over here?

BTW: In Norway last year a couple actually fucked on stage (se pic under) at Norways biggest outdoor rock festival. Not very suprisingly that did make the headlines. God what ugly crusties they were....

*Woah there! There are children who browse these forums. -Pun.*
