Just because the STG was advanced doesn\'t mean it was good. It had many parts and overall, it was a flimsy weapon. Things could be dented and broken to where it couldn\'t work anymore, especially the gas tube and the stock.

The Thompson was not a bad weapon at all. It actually got some use out of the British Army and if they had one, they treated it like a sacred idol. It was only complicated to manufacture, the weapon itself is not complicated. It was very reliable, reasonably accurate and a bunch of power. MP40s had a stovepiping problem also. It\'s a lot like the BAR. It\'s milled out of solid steel, but both were excellent weapons.

The best smg of ww2 is considered to be the PPS43 because of it\'s reliability and compactness. But it\'s mostly an opinion. I\'d probably rather have a tommy over the russian weapons, except maybe a ppsh because the early versions were select fire. And the tommy was select fire also.
