The A bomb was intended to be used against Germany, first and foremost. That Germany was defeated before it could be used was why it was used against Japan. Any history of the Manhattan Project can tell you that. Even that crappy movie.

Advanced and good do not have to be the same, so you shouldn\'t apply that towards the STG.

Also, to say that the Thompson is better than an MP40, to me, is somewhat ridiculous. The Thompson was a weapon that the companies had to struggle to produce due to it\'s complex nature and need for machined components. This gave it a higher cost than almost any other small arms weapon used in WWII. This also contributed to is somewhat quirky nature.

Most of you need to study up on the Meiji Restoration, and stop basing your idea of Japanese history on Shogun and The Last Samurai.

To say that they A bomb was used to knock Japan into the 20th Century is ill informed at best, and just plain stupid at worst.

Japan built the biggest battleships, and had one of the most powerful navies, ship for ship, of the time.

Japans \"WMD\" program was more varied, but it included A bombs. Since their program was only months behind the US program, I fail to see how they needed to be bombed into the modern era.

Otherwise, yes, Japanese small arms sucked big time!

So, all that from a country with almost no available natural resources is quite impressive, and quite indicative of being very industrially capable.
