RE: Is it okay to portray Hitler as a human being?
Having studied basic sociology at A-level (I don\'t know what that would be equivelent to elsewhere sorry Tongue) I can tell you that while parenting isn\'t the only factor, it is a very major one.

Its called a \"Primary Agent of Sociolisation\". Others include Education, Immediate Family and Close Friends.

Primary socialisation fixes your sense of right and wrong by about the age of seven. While it is possible to change this, it is much more difficult/unlikly that anyone is going to undergo a massive reform past this age, without a major change of livestyle.

Chances are he just hated minority groups because they managed to get along fine, while he couldn\'t get a job. (He spent many years after the Great War unemployed like a large number of germany\'s labour force. It has been suggested that he pciked up his hatred/thirst for persecution of minority groups during this time. Or he could just have used them as a scapegoat for politics. Who knows?

Well, the main point of Fascism is to gain power in any way possible. You do this through scapegoats.

But if he was only using Jews as a scapegoat, why would he take the final solution so far?

political motive.

those in power want one thing: more power. when he got to a plateau, he had to take the next step: expanding his \"final solution\" to other minorities.

i dont know much about Hitler\'s personal history, or the psychology of socialization/cultural influence, but that would be my best guess.

But Flux, all we\'ve ever heard about Germany is how they didn\'t know the Jews were being slaughtered.

If he was using it as a political tool, why did he keep it quiet?

RE: Is it okay to portray Hitler as a human being?
very good point. however, he can still be anti-semetic and keep the genocide behind the curtain. i\'ll hit the library tomorrow and pick up some history books on this subject. but my best guess would be that he had a policy of anti-semitism, but the camps were kept under the table for the most part.

then that leads me to wonder that if he actually would have won the war, or continued fighting it longer, would he ultimatly have \"declassified\" it? *shrug* hopefully i\'ll find this out through some research.

I think that if you think you can decide whether someone gets to be human or not, makes you just as \"bad\" as Hitler himself.
