Some theater chains won\'t show an R. If your objective is to get people to see your film, then you want to get it in to the widest possible distribution. That would mean knocking it down to PG-13. Or you could always try your luck with going unrated.

Also, in some parts, they don\'t recognize the industry ratings, and have their own rating system.

Otherwise, being that you are on the other side of the country, and not from LA, you have no idea how funny the concept of \"integrity of the movie\" is!

Of course if it is found out that you refuse to make you movie more acceptable, the religious right will be all over your arse(and don\'t try to tell me it doesn\'t happen). You might get \'street cred\' but chances are, you won\'t get to make your great film.
