Ummm.... Whoops?

RE: Ummm.... Whoops?
Armed dolphins – lol; at least they’ll be able to defend themselves against sharks.

I have a book on weapons from WWII. One entry is titled “Soviet dog mines.” Apparently, the Russians had a short lived program where they trained dogs to run under German tanks while carrying high explosives in a harness on their back (a vertical post protruding from the pack detonated when it was pushed backwards).

I say short lived because, according to the book, the dogs had been trained by putting food under Russian tanks. The majority of the dogs were smart enough to tell the difference, and when released on the battlefield, those that didn’t panic from the chaos of combat and run straight back to their trainers (blowing them up in the process), headed straight for the more familiar Russian tanks (blowing them up in the process).

Speaking of dogs sticking it to their owners (so to speak)...

Boy, 13, Injured In Grizzly Attack
Wednesday, September 14, 2005
( From The Vancouver Sun)

A 13-year-old boy received a broken leg, scalp wounds and claw marks on his chest Monday when he was attacked by a grizzly bear that was chasing the family dog.

The encounter occurred about 6 p.m. Monday when two brothers, ages 13 and 15, were hiking through a swampy area near their home in the rural community of Grassy Plains, about 30 kilometres south of Burns Lake.

The younger boy, Christopher Solecki, was walking just ahead of his older brother and they were accompanied by a small family dog. Suddenly, the dog ran ahead of the boys and went out of sight.

\"Moments later, the little dog comes running past them, back towards the farm, as fast as it can go,\" senior conservation officer Bob Coyle said Tuesday.

\"The bear is right on its tail. It ends up striking the younger brother. It\'s running after the dog, sees the young fellow, and immediately leaps at him, knocking him to the ground.\"

The older brother, who was running back to the farm, called for help. Coyle said the boys\' father ran towards his children and discovered his younger son on the ground. The bear was already gone.

Coyle said the investigation has not concluded and three conservation officers were still trying to track and snare the bear Tuesday, but the fact it was in hot pursuit of the dog suggests it was not hunting humans.

Coyle said dog owners should always keep their pets leashed when they travel in bear country. Otherwise, he said, a dog may find a bear and instinctively return to its owner, with the bear following close behind.

\"And boom, they\'re on the humans.\"

I think they were shooting a Rolling Stones video in Brazil. The zombie sightings were probably Keith Richards.
