Man you guys get heated discussing these machines of yore! BTW saw a lurvly little documentary this weekend about a Heinkel 111 and a Junkers 88 that went through the ice at the Jonsvatnet Lake in Norway april 10th 1940 (the day after the invasion). Krauts needed landing space, but did\'nt count on April\'s quick-turning changes in temperature!

The planes have recently been salvaged, and were in mint condition cause of laying in fresh water. The guy who initiated it even got hold of the 96 year old Kommandant in the Luftwaffe, Arthur von Casimi, the pilot of the Heinkel and responsible for the operation (bombing northern Norway back to the stone age). Norway hadn\'t capitulated yet when he was shot down by an English fighter over Narvik, so he ended up a prisoner of war in Canada for the next 8 years.

Anyway, he was incredibly moved and happy to see his plane again!
