Reasons the Axis lost World War II
I think we can all agree on a couple things here.

Reasons Germany lost:
-They were heavily Outnumbered by like 4/1 on the Russian front alone.
-They weren\'t prepared for Russian Winter.
-They were spread too thin and too far.
-They had weak European allies. Italy was VERY weak, couldn\'t even beat the Greeks alone) (Foreign Waffen SS division recruits were the only big help to the German cause.)
-No long range bombers.
-Early Shortage of Pilots
-Hitler didn\'t listen to his general\'s plans, they had to be his way.
-Failure to knock Britain out of the war early thus facing 2 front war.

Reasons Japan lost:
-THEY MESSED WITH AMERICA! lol
-They never upgraded their infantry arms as war progressed like other warring nations. (I think it was called the Asaki Rifle)
- China\'s population was so big and hard to deal with they couldn\'t stabilize a city they occupied there.
-They were spread too thin and too far.
-US and Australian forces were better armed with all types of weapons.
(RPGs, submachine guns, shotguns, automatics, rifles, flamethrowers)
-Lost nearly their entire fleet during naval battles.
(For an island nation, that fleet was pretty important)
-Mountainous Jungle terrain, very hard to move armies through.
-A Bombs.

RE: Reasons the Axis lost World War II
The number one reason that Japan lost was because US broke their radio code multiple times.

RE: Reasons the Axis lost World War II
And of course the Enigma code was broken somewhat early on.

Hitler never had to attack Russia, they weren\'t gonna attack him, so he blew it there. Plus the reserves that were pulled from Siberia really helped save the day!

I knew an old German guy who would definitely agree about Italy!

Plus Hitler was a dumbarse!

Germany didn\'t have the resources to fight against the US, not without controlling Europe and North Africa first.

RE: Reasons the Axis lost World War II
there are some major ones missed out...

A. Bletchley Park... aka station X... code breakers and everything including the worlds first super computers cracking the codes. That secret only 20 people over the entire war knew about it... that DID NOT include the Russians.

B. Industrial might, Germany had the technical advantage over the Allies (including america) but DID NOT have the industrial capacity to out-produce America, Britain or Russia and therefore the final year and a half (especially on the russian front) became a war of attrition stacked heavily in the Allies direction.

Similar thing happened to Japan, they couldn\'t keep up with the industrial capacity of America; as Admiral Yamamoto predicted and why he did not want a prolonged war against the Allies. If the Carriers were not destroyed at Pearl Harbour, Japan would win battle after battle for the first 6-12 months but after that they would not be victorious again. He was right and forced to fight or face dishonour.

Vips

RE: Reasons the Axis lost World War II
germany - hitler was an idiot and wanted to control both europe and russia at the same time, he plainly didnt have the troops to cover 2 fronts. they made things more complicated than it really should of been.

japan - they had the numbers just not the technology. they had a weak command structure, toomany indians not nuff chiefs. they underestimated US forces, and US industrial strength. the US kept on cracking their code, where they could not break the US navajo code.

The Enigma was a constantly evolving code machine, although the original codes where broken, the Naval codes were highly encrypted using more wheels than other factions (also they were more strict in the codes too)
The Luftwaffe in particular were very sloppy with the enigma!

At some point both Hitler and Stalin new that National Socialits and the Bolsheviks where going to fight, Hitler new that his only chance was to kick it all off and get a quick victory before the red army could recover from Stalins purges. ( a lot of this hatred comes from WWi where the army blamed communist supporters for the collapse of Germany)

RE: Reasons the Axis lost World War II
One important factor: By attacking Pearl Harbour and thus bringing the industrial giant USA aboard, Japan brought the war to \"an early end\".

RE: Reasons the Axis lost World War II
Heh true... Imagine if they hadn\'t.

To me, that\'s the number one reason why the Axis lost. Everyone\'s heard of the phrase \"waking the sleeping giant\". Before the USA got involved because of Pearl Harbour, the war was mainly fought on European soil. I doubt the Americans would\'ve helped such a great deal with the liberation of Europe if they weren\'t attacked by the Japs in the first place.
