Deep Thought question of the Week.

One of the things that bugs me most about Hollywood is their bid for more money. Some movies are obviously created to bring in more money. Some movies are purposefully created to shun money, or at least make it seem as such.


However, assume that you are a movie producer. You\'ve just made a movie that came in at an \"R\" rating (the highest non-porn rating you can get).


Would you change the film to lower the rating and thus make more money from having a broader audience?

Or would you keep it the same and refuse to break up what you feel to be the integrity of the movie?

well sometimes, R rated films can make ALOT of money!
i\'d personaly want to keep the film as i made it... butsome people might sujest ways of doing somethings diferently so maybe it won\'t have to be an R.

Well if im a producer then im a money hungry bastard so yes but if im myself ill not change it.

Some theater chains won\'t show an R. If your objective is to get people to see your film, then you want to get it in to the widest possible distribution. That would mean knocking it down to PG-13. Or you could always try your luck with going unrated.

Also, in some parts, they don\'t recognize the industry ratings, and have their own rating system.

Otherwise, being that you are on the other side of the country, and not from LA, you have no idea how funny the concept of \"integrity of the movie\" is!

Of course if it is found out that you refuse to make you movie more acceptable, the religious right will be all over your arse(and don\'t try to tell me it doesn\'t happen). You might get \'street cred\' but chances are, you won\'t get to make your great film.

I don\'t care if they want more money. I care if they make something good and it rarely happen nowadays. Good that movies from other countries than USA become more popular
