Hmm, they may be made by FN, but that looks suspiciously like the stock off an XM-8, grip off the UMP, and the mechanism off a G-36C.

And I believe the XM-8 is a silly gun, why dont they just use G-36\'s!!! lol.

It does use stuff from other guns as can be read in the articles. I espescially like the idea of having it in 7.62 nato.

its been poking around for a while. world.guns.ru has a nice blurb about it.

http://world.guns.ru/assault/as70-e.htm

its basically a slightly re-engineered, modular FNC with an XM-8 stock and a shorter barrel. and it supports multiple (5.56/7.62 NATO) calibers.

Man, and here I was finding the G-36 an ugly gun.... I stand corrected.... Wink

well, i think both the SCAR and the G36 look more \"badass\" than the XM-8. which doenst say much, the XM-8 looking like a supersoaker. but looks really dont matter and it will eventually blend in. ive yet to find any articles/sources that indicate if they are starting the trials, or the results of those trials. testing and retesting will tell if this baby is awesome enough to replace the venerable M4A1.

i have a feeling that it might be just because it supports multiple calibers from the same platform, and implements an action/gas system that has proven to be far superior to the AR15 system.

I\'m still of the opinion that we should switch back to the M14.

Oh yeah, the barrel on the 7.62 looks like it\'s way too short.
